The "Anti-Hero"
film genre is not a standalone structural film genre, but rather a
character archetype and narrative framework where the central
protagonist lacks traditional heroic virtues—such as idealism,
selflessness, courage, and a strict moral compass—yet still drives the
main story and earns audience empathy, thus being a hero in the end.
