"There's so much more
to you than you know, not just pain and anger. There's good in
you too, and you can harness all that. You have a power that no
one can match, not even me." – Eric Lehnsherr (aka Magneto)
Why watch this? This
new direction takes us back to the X-Men origin story with a new
cast.
Plot Summary: During
the Cold War in the 1960s, Charles Xavier and Erik Lehnsherr,
two young mutants with extraordinary powers, meet and form a
close bond as they work to find and recruit other individuals
like them. Aided by the CIA, they assemble a team to confront a
powerful mutant villain who threatens to trigger a nuclear war
between the US and the Soviet Union.
Dad's Preview:
This excellent super-hero origin movie focuses a lot of time on
the meeting of Erik Lehnsherr (aka Magneto), Charles Xavier (aka
Professor X) and Raven (aka Mystique). Erik seeks revenge
on the man, Sebastian Shaw, who killed his mother in Auschwitz.
Charles attends the University of Oxford, and his able to
convince the CIA to fund Division X, a secret division to work
with mutants. The new cast is excellent, and there are admirable
new additions. The plot is complex, yet easy to follow, and it
is a worthy prequel in the X-Men film series.
