"What I really want to
do with my life - what I want to do for a living - is I want to
be with your daughter.
I'm good at it." -
Lloyd Dobler
Why watch this? The
regular guy. The pristine, brainy out-of-reach girl. Have
courage, Lloyd.
Plot Summary:
Lloyd Dobler, an optimistic and unmotivated high school
graduate, falls for Ione Skye's Diane Court, the class
valedictorian with a sheltered life and an overprotective
father. Despite their differing backgrounds and Lloyd's lack of
ambition contrasting with Diane's academic pursuits and future
plans, they unexpectedly begin a relationship during the summer
after graduation. Their blossoming romance and Diane's
aspirations are challenged by her father's disapproval and other
outside pressures.
Dad's Preview:
Lloyd Dobler steps out of his class and asks out the beautiful valedictorian, Diane Court. Well, she accepts. He learns that she really doesn't
have many friends, and is heading to England next year.
Her doting father wants her to date a more ambitious suitor.
This IS the best 80's bittersweet Teen RomCom - don't miss it.
