"If you were going to
take over the world, would you blow up the White House 'Independence
Day' style, or sneak in through the back door?" – Casey
Why watch this? This
is a pretty darn good, slime-filled horror film.
Plot Summary:
High school students at Herrington High suspect their teachers
are behaving strangely, like they're not quite themselves. After
witnessing bizarre events and discovering unsettling evidence, a
group of students from different cliques bands together to
uncover the chilling truth. They soon realize that their
teachers and other adults in the town are being taken over by an
alien parasitic force aiming for a full-scale invasion, and it's
up to them to stop it.

Dad's Preview:
Some horror films are a delight. I missed its debut in
'98, so you can imagine how cool it was to recognize all
the familiar faces that pop up here. This film is a
teenage version of the spawn of
The Thing
(1982) meets
Invasion of the Body Snatchers (1978). Just
writing that sentence game me the chills. I've seen
comments that this film rips off previous sci-fi films,
well, that is point. It is a combination of previous
tropes used to scare an audience or gross them out. I
found myself enjoying every second of it. Even the part
where Mr. Furlong (portrayed by the great Jon Stewart),
gets his fingers chopped off, uh, that was cool. |
