Why watch this?
This is really an inspiring film for ladies who should believe
in themselves.
Plot Summary: Tess
McGill, a determined working-class woman from Staten Island,
struggles to advance beyond her secretarial role in the
male-dominated Wall Street world. When her ambitious, but
unscrupulous, boss, Katherine Parker, breaks her leg on a skiing
trip, Tess discovers Katherine's plan to steal her brilliant
idea for a corporate acquisition. Tess decides to seize the
opportunity, secretly posing as an executive who teams up with
investment broker, Jack Trainer.
Dad's Preview:
For a small stretch of time in the '80's, Melani Griffith made
some really nice films. It started with
Something Wild
(1986), then came this gem. True, it's a
Rom-Com, however, it's more about the determination of a young
lady to break out her class (she's a secretary), and her sex
(Wall Street is a man's world). Her transformation is amazing to
watch. She's supported by her best friend Cynthia, and handsome broker, Jack Trainer.
