"I know your pain.
Love is pain. I had a daughter once. I put my faith in a higher
power, hoping it would save her... and she... died. Now I
understand. My daughter is the lucky one. She does not have to
grow up in a world of pain... and suffering... run by wicked
gods." -
Gorr
Why watch this?
Thor, a super-powered Jane and the gang take on a really nasty
villain.
Plot Summary:
Thor's attempts to find inner peace are interrupted by a cosmic
killer known as Gorr the God Butcher, who seeks to make all gods
extinct. To fight this new threat, Thor teams up with King
Valkyrie, Korg, and his ex-girlfriend Jane Foster, who
surprisingly wields his old hammer as the Mighty Thor. Together,
they embark on a cosmic adventure to stop Gorr from reaching the
center of the universe, forcing Thor to confront his past love
and future legacy.

Dad's Preview: After the
success of Thor:
Rangarok (2017), almost any follow-on sequel
would pale by comparison. This valiant effort loads up
with familiar stars, a new villain, and amazing special
effects. Heck, Thor and his band of heroes venture to a
sit-down with Zeus in god-heaven. Perhaps it is
over-zealous. Maybe it is one sequel too many. That
said, there are lots of moments to like. I enjoyed
arming a bunch of kids with godly power to take on the
evil beasties. Waititi's wit and humor abound. And, call
me a sap, but I still enjoy Thor's relationship with
Jane, even the mushy parts. It is no Rangarok,
but for another Thor entry, it's pretty good. |
