"I was saved! I was
saved by a flying wild man in a loincloth." –
Jane Porter
Why watch this? This
classic story benefits from this Disney's musical and
light-hearted overhaul.
Plot Summary:
A young man, orphaned in the African jungle and raised by
gorillas, struggles to find his place within his adopted family.
Things are turned upside down when he encounters humans for the
first time, including the curious and compassionate Jane Porter,
sparking a journey of self-discovery and the difficult choice
between two very different worlds.
Dad's Preview:
When Disney announced Tarzan, I sighed, "Here we go
again, another shameless interpretation of a classic story." I
could not have been more wrong. This animated treasure is full
of greatness: colorful African scenery, snappy musical numbers,
and that old emotional family gut-punch Disney has patented. It
follows a fairly standard formula (man meets woman, bad guy
tries to get rid of good guy, singing animals save the day), but
also manages to be a pleasant film to sit through. Adults and
children both will love this new version about Tarzan and Jane
in the jungle.
