Why watch this?
... because Disney's early films were innocent and always exciting.
Plot Summary:
A family, escaping the Napoleonic Wars, is shipwrecked on a
remote tropical island. Using ingenuity and teamwork, they build
an elaborate tree house home and establish a life for
themselves, navigating the challenges of a wild environment and
dangerous animals. Their peaceful existence is threatened by the
presence of pirates.
Dad's Preview:
Most of the cast of
Old Yeller
(1957) was brought into this film about a Swiss
family shipwrecked on a remote island. The resourceful father,
and his sons, create a place to survive life in the jungle,
braving a dangerous tiger and marauding pirates. When they
rescue a young girl there is more than a little competition for
her affection by the two oldest sons. This was a family favorite of mine growing up,
and we all wanted to live in their massive tree house.
