Dad's Preview: As this film
meandered on, I found myself wondering if I have
accidentally strayed into my wife's territory, you know, the
Hallmark Channel. For as engaging as Reese Witherspoon
can be, she dials it back in this fairly
run-of-the-mill romantic comedy. Her character Melanie
has an impossible choice: two exceedingly handsome
suitors. Oh, to have that problem. The performances are
nice. It's all very nice. In the end I really wanted
more something, more conflict or sacrifice or brokenness
- those things that make tough journey to true love
worth the fight. |
