Why watch this? It's
a worthy sorta-sequel to
Support Your Local Sheriff
(1969).
Plot Summary:
Latigo Smith, a con man, arrives in a small Western town and is
mistakenly identified as the notorious gunslinger Swifty Morgan.
This misunderstanding occurs amidst a heated rivalry between two
local mining companies, both eager to secure the services of the
supposed gunfighter. Smith capitalizes on the situation,
engaging in various schemes, including attempting to pass off a
dim-witted acquaintance as the real Swifty Morgan, all while
navigating a blossoming romance and the inevitable arrival of
the actual gunslinger.
Dad's Preview:
The crew that brought us the comedy Western
Support Your Local Sheriff
(1969), decided to make another oater featuring Garner and
Elam as the leads, but it's not a sequel... just more cowboy
fun. The story is certainly different, what with adding the
wonderful, sassy Suzanne Pleshette. She kills it a gun-toting
shrew who runs men off, yet secretly pines for the right man.
The actor with the most one-liners is scruffy Dub Taylor, as the
wise-cracking town doctor.
