"You listen to me. I've got
12,000 people in this town who are scared out of their mind.
They've got one person to rely on. It used to be someone else,
but now it's just me." – Jackson Lamb
Why watch this? This
summer movie has the look and feel of a Spielberg 80's sci-fi
classic.
Plot Summary:
In the summer of 1979, a group of young friends filming a Super
8 movie witness a catastrophic train crash. As strange events
and disappearances begin plaguing their small Ohio town, they
suspect the derailment was no accident. The local Deputy and
father of one of the boys investigates the terrifying truth
behind the incident, which appears linked to a mysterious entity
that escaped the train's wreckage.
Dad's Preview:
There's lots of time spent on developing the back-story about a
group of precocious teens who are shooting a home movie. The
plot also coincides with a series of super-natural events
that have caused some destruction and have the town folks pretty
scared. This early J. J. Abrams flick is full of mysterious,
suspenseful revelations. The ending might be a bit far-fetched,
but it's a fun ride anyway.
