"Those mountains
aren't my legacy; you are." – Jaeger Clade to his son,
Searcher Clade
Why watch this? This
is a nice adventure about the pressures of your parent's
expected legacy.
Plot Summary:
In fictional Avalonia, a famous explorer, Jaeger Clade, and his
son, Searcher, discover a green plant that emits energy.
Searchers returns home, but Jaeger angrily presses on alone...
and is missing for 25 years. When the plants, called Pando,
start to die, Searcher, with his son Ethan, must set forth to
find out why.
Dad's Preview:
This Disney offering is visually stunning and full
of high-quality chases, encounters with new life-forms, and
relatable characters. What I liked MOST (and probably why this
film is underrated) is the fact that one of the lead characters,
Ethan Clade, is gay. Here's the shocker: everybody in the film
simply treats him like a normal person. That makes the setting a
Strange film indeed. We need more films like this, and frankly,
a world that behaves like this.
