Why watch this?
Honestly, it's so bad it's good.
Plot Summary:
Five years after his Brooklyn disco days, Tony Manero has moved
to Manhattan to pursue his dream of becoming a professional
dancer on Broadway. He works as a waiter and dance instructor
while navigating auditions for a demanding new show called
"Satan's Alley". Amidst a complicated love triangle with his
devoted girlfriend Jackie and the cold lead dancer Laura, Tony
must prove his talent and mature to succeed in the competitive
world of professional dance.
Dad's Preview:
My 1982, the world had revolted on the disco craze (hell, disco
records were burned in the Silverdome!). This obviously impacted
the subject of this sequel to the massive 1977 hit
Saturday
Night Fever. The flick's focal point, Tony Manero, has
moved on from disco and is now focused on making it as a dancer
on Broadway. Amid all the headbands, leg-warmers and sweaty
bodies, we are assaulted by the most contrived love triangle
ever to see the inside of a theater. That said, I have to admit
that I kinda liked this film, but man, it has not aged well.
Much of the plot just seems ridiculous. It would take Travola's
career several years to recover.
