Why watch this?
Before Batman, there was The Shadow, a dark, mysterious
vigilante.
Plot Summary:
Lamont Cranston, a wealthy playboy in 1930s New York, secretly
operates as the masked crime fighter known as the Shadow. He uses
his psychic abilities, including a power to "cloud men's minds",
to battle criminals. The Shadow faces his greatest challenge
when Shiwan Khan, a powerful adversary with similar psychic
abilities, arrives in the city with plans for global domination,
involving the development of a super-weapon.

Dad's Preview:
The Shadow was featured in a 1930 detective radio program
called The Detective Story Hour. He was a brooding
figure, featured in comics, TV shows and films for years. In
1994, this fine film hit theaters. It's a throwback to the pulp
serials of old, but does so with flair and nice special-effects.
I firmly believe the Shadow was a major influence on Bob Kane's Batman
character. You will remember... "The Shadow knows!" |
