Dad's Preview:
There's something completely enthralling about this
libation-centered documentary. No liquor is more tied to
a region of the world than scotch to Scotland. Yet like
Scotland's complex history, the drink itself is nuanced,
playful, and multi-layered. There is a line about Scotch
that goes something like this, "You've got to find
your Scotch." I found this to be true, and my
preference is a lighter, slightly-smoky blend (Macallan
comes to mind). A good friend of mine prefers a type
that (to me) tastes like a mixture of Lebanon bologna
and mouthwash. This beautiful documentary takes us to a
scotch blending facility, to the peat fields, and to a
master blender's comfortable office. This is a real
treat for those who may want to learn more about this
golden elixir. |
