"God of Rock, thank
you for this chance to kick ass. We are your humble servants.
Please give us the power to blow
people's minds with our high
voltage rock. In your name, we pray. Amen." – Dewey Finn
Why watch this?
... It's fun and a little irreverent (which is a good thing).
Plot Summary:
Dewey Finn is a rock musician who, desperate for work after
being kicked out of his band, impersonates a substitute teacher
at a prestigious prep school. There, he discovers his
fifth-grade students' surprising musical talent and hatches a
plan to transform them into a rock band, competing in a local
Battle of the Bands competition. Hilarity ensues as Dewey
attempts to navigate the demands of teaching, keep his true
identity a secret, and prepare his young proteges for their
moment in the rock and roll spotlight.
Dad's Preview:
Dewey Finn is that guy, the rock god who never hit it big, and
just went no place. When he finally gets wise to the money
involved in teaching at a prep school, he signs up. Most parents would recoil in terror at Dewey
teaching their kids, yet, in
his own way, he connects to the young musical prodigies. It's
hard not to be infected with Black's singular energy. I mean, I wanna party with the guy, but he's got to go home the next day.
