animated event illustrates the beauty and brutality of nature.
Plot Summary:
Following a devastating solar flare, the surviving crew of the
deep-space freighter Demeter 227 crash-lands on a beautiful yet
profoundly unforgiving alien planet. Scattered across this
surreal world, the isolated survivors must navigate a hostile,
highly complex ecosystem to find one another. Ultimately, they
face a grueling battle of adaptation against the deadly local
flora and fauna in a desperate bid to escape.

Dad's Preview:
This adult animated limited-series initially reminded me of
stories I read as a kid in the science fantasy magazines
1984 and
Heavy Metal. Yet, this is so much more. Based on an
eight-minute short called Scavengers, the visuals -
mostly showing the flora and fauna on the planet Vesta, are
eye-popping. I uttered "Wow" and "Holy crap!" numerous times.
All the alien creatures reminded me of Hayao Miyazaki's films
from
Studio Ghibli. As the stranded crew members try to survive
the planet's many life forms, we quickly realize two things:
humans are frail, and humans can be very resourceful. This is a
survival story and the telling is worth sitting through its
twelve episodes. Prepare to have your mind blown.
