Why watch this?
Rush's 2002 tour showed fans that the boys still have a lot of
rock music to share.
Plot Summary:
The concert film captures the band Rush's performance on the
final night of their 2002 Vapor Trails tour in Rio de Janeiro,
Brazil. The film showcases the band playing 28 songs for 40,000
enthusiastic fans at the Maracanã Stadium. It includes the full
concert and a documentary about Rush's visit to Brazil, offering
a glimpse into the band's connection with their fans and their
journey during the tour.
Dad's Preview:
It is a little odd that a Texas lad would find his way through
country music, to Elvis, then KISS, and finally to Rush, but he
did. The album that hooked me was
Hemispheres, a complex offering with songs written as
chapters, telling stories of celestial gods and talking trees.
This thinkin' man's rock trio are true craftsmen. I loved Alex's
blistering, melodic guitar play, as Geddy plucked his funky bass
and sang with otherworldly pipes. Then thunders the drums and Neil Peart.
The Professor stood alone in the rock world as precise,
powerful, uber-creative - and he wrote most of the song's
lyrics. This concert film is triumphant, as the band wrapped up
the Vapor Trails tour, because they had been through
emotional hell with devastating personal losses. This was the
perfect pairing of a band that had clawed back to tour again,
and a South American country that exploded when their beloved
Rush stopped in for the first time ever. In São Paulo, they
played for 60,000 rabid fans in a soccer stadium. Included is the
fantastic making-of documentary:
The Boys in Brazil.
