"I know there's alumni
here tonight. When you went to Adams you might've been called a
spazz, or a dork, or a geek. Any of you that have ever felt
stepped on, left out, picked on, put down, whether you think
you're a nerd or not, why don't you just come down here and join
us." - Lewis
Why watch this? It's
raunchy, sex-filled, romp FINALLY gives the nerds a whole lotta
payback.
Plot Summary:
At Adams College, a group of bullied and marginalized freshmen
form their own fraternity, Lambda Lambda Lambda, after being
driven out of their dorms by a dominant jock fraternity. The
nerds, constantly harassed by the jocks, decide to use their
intellect to fight back against their tormentors and earn their
self-respect. This leads to a campus-wide war between the two
rival fraternities, where the outcasts prove they have power of
their own.

Dad's Preview:
I was a nerd - a fat Momma's boy who enjoyed building models and
watching monster movies. I was bullied. Then, I found sports and
became a jock, yet I also detested bullies. Like those in this
film, many jocks are mean to nerds. I like to think, at least in
my circles, I discouraged that. This film is funny as heck, as
it showcases several college outcasts, roughs them up enough to
fight back, then unleashes to powers of their collective
slide-rule, pocket-calculator intelligence to rain down justice
on the jocks and bullies who deserve it. Carradine and Edwards
are stellar as the top dweebs, but honestly, all the Lambdas are
wonderful, especially the disgusting Booger and flamboyant
Lamar. The evil jocks are equally well cast, namely the handsome
McGinley, massive Gibb and their leader-coach, John Goodman. It
is a very crude film, but that's part of its charm... and, man,
it's sure nice to see the down-trodden win one this time. |
