"Fire had to be stolen
from nature, it had to be kept alive - sheltered from wind and
rain, guarded from rival tribes. Fire was a symbol of power and
a means of survival. The tribe who possessed fire, possessed
life." – Title

Why watch this? This
is a brutally realistic view back in time to our early
ancestors.

Dad's Preview:
Approximately 80,000 years ago, early man lived in the harshest
of environments. This film, directed by Jean Annuad (of
The Name of the
Rose (1986) fame), follows three prehistoric tribesmen
forced to venture forth to find fire after theirs is lost. They
encounter deadly beasts, rival tribes and even cannibalistic
troglodytes. This epic adventure is beautifully shot,
realistically violent, and a true inspiration to the human
spirit. Rae Dawn Chong (in a role that had to be demanding)
excels as Ika, a young girl held captive by the cannibals.
