"You can't win. You know
that, don't you? It doesn't matter if you whip us, you'll still
be where you were before,
at the bottom. And we'll still be the
lucky ones at the top with all the breaks. It doesn't matter.
Greasers will still be Greasers and Soces will still be Soces. It
doesn't matter." –

Why watch this?
It's a real treat to see all that young talent in one film.
Plot Summary:
Ponyboy Curtis is a sensitive teenager and member of the
working-class gang called Greasers, who navigates the tumultuous
rivalry with the affluent Soces in 1960s Oklahoma. A violent
confrontation between the gangs leads to a tragic incident that
forces Ponyboy and his friend Johnny into hiding. Their
experiences and the consequences of the gangs' conflict
ultimately challenge their bonds and reshape their lives.
Dad's Preview:
This is the movie that coined the term "Brat Pack". Its teen
cast would all go on to major stardom. 'Greasers' are the tough
gang, usually out causing
trouble. However one gang member, Pony Boy, aspires for better
things. The Greasers despise the "Soces" (short for
Socialites, aka the rich kids).
There's lots of back and forth, that builds to a brutal gang
fight. This film is dark, the Greasers without futures,
yet Pony Boy, and this dreams, provide a little light.
