"I fear Nosferatu is impervious to any of our iron stakes. I am convinced only you have the faculty to redeem us." - Prof. Albin Eberhart von Franz, to Ellen

Why watch this? It's nice to see a classic vampire in 2024. This oozes terror.

Plot Summary: In 19th century Germany, a young estate agent, Thomas Hutter, travels to Transylvania to meet the mysterious Count Orlok to finalize a property sale. While Hutter is away, his newlywed bride, Ellen, is left in the care of friends, unknowingly connected by a psychic link to the terrifying vampire. A gothic tale unfolds as Orlok, infatuated with Ellen, begins to stalk her, bringing untold horror to her life and the surrounding community. .

Dad's Preview: This eerily vampire film combines the Bram Stoker Dracula story with the Nosferatu films of the past. The result is very effective. Almost every scene is painted on the screen in gothic black and shadows. The constructed mood is to literally elicit a gasp from the audience. That is a good thing. This version of the count is monstrous, his body wracked and scarred. His visage is a bearded horror, his voice a raspy growl. This film's standout performance comes from Lily-Rose Depp. She goes all out to portray a woman possessed by pure evil, and she renders an excellent performance.
