tonight, Roge'. This is personal." - Martin Riggs
Why watch this? It's
a great sequel to one of the best buddy cop films ever.
Plot Summary:
After investigating a shipment of illegal gold coins, detectives
Riggs and Murtaugh discover they have unknowingly interfered
with a sophisticated drug-trafficking operation run by powerful
and ruthless South African diplomats. Because the criminals are
protected by diplomatic immunity, the partners are forced to
protect an irritating federal witness who may be their only way
to bring down the organization.
Dad's Preview:
After the universal success of
Lethal Weapon (1987),
I eagerly awaited this film. For the most part, it is
wonderfully more of the same. There is great banter between
Gibson and Glover. The action sequences are thrilling and
well-done. There is more information about Riggs and what
happened to his wife. What could possibly bring this film down?
Well, apparently its adding Joe Pesci to the cast. He's my least
favorite aspect of this film, and I like him as an actor.
His character, Leo Getz, is the unwanted sidekick. Well Joe, you
should get the Oscar for Most Annoying Character on Film of all
time. God, that voice. Had his character been removed from the
script, this would have garnered 9 DML Stars easy.
