				Plot Summary: 
				Colonel William Ludlow, disillusioned by betrayal from the US 
				government, establishes a ranch in remote Montana where he 
				raises his three sons: Alfred, Tristan, and Samuel. The 
				close-knit family, joined by a Cree friend and others, maintains 
				an unbreakable bond until Samuel brings home his fiancée, 
				Susannah. As the brothers go off to fight in World War I, their 
				relationships are challenged by the impact of war and a rivalry 
				for Susannah's affections, threatening to tear the family apart.
