Plot Summary: Colonel William Ludlow, disillusioned by betrayal from the US government, establishes a ranch in remote Montana where he raises his three sons: Alfred, Tristan, and Samuel. The close-knit family, joined by a Cree friend and others, maintains an unbreakable bond until Samuel brings home his fiancée, Susannah.
