Plot Summary:
In an alternate 1899, a shadowy figure known as the Fantom, aka
"M", orchestrates events to ignite a world war. British
Intelligence recruits adventurer Allan Quatermain to assemble a
team of legendary characters including Captain Nemo, Mina Harker,
and Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. This extraordinary League must
unite their unique abilities to stop the Fantom's destructive
plans and save the world.
Dad's Preview:
Yes, it's far-fetched. Yes, vehicles do things in small spaces
that defy logic. But, well, it is a fantasy film, so belief has
to be suspended at least partially. You will enjoy it a lot more
if you fully suspend it. A team of famous fictional
literary characters are brought together to stop a mysterious
evil bent one world destruction. Based on Alan Moore's/Kevin O'Neill's comic book series,
it's almost non-stop action traversing the world and its oceans.
There are some great moments, and I really enjoyed Sir Sean Connery's performance (even though he did not like the film).
Peta Wilson really glimmered as the vampiric Mina Harker.
