Why watch this? This
is a superb diary of the school's nerdy, feisty free spirit.
Plot Summary:
Christine McPherson is a strong-willed high school senior who
renames herself "Lady Bird" and yearns to escape her mundane
Sacramento life for a prestigious East Coast college. Her final
year of high school sees her navigating strained relationships
with her opinionated mother and others, experiencing first loves
and heartbreaks, and exploring newfound friendships and social
circles. Throughout these experiences, Lady Bird grapples with
self-discovery, identity, and the complexities of familial and
personal attachments.
Dad's Preview:
This quirky coming of age film centers on Christine as she embraces her senior year at Sacramento
Catholic High. There are multiple complexities between the teen
and her single, and VERY bitter, mother. The story is really about Lady Bird's
transformation, and her finding her voice, in the midst of suppressive
adults and annoying fellow students.
