"Look, there's a great
big hunk of world down there, with no fence around it. Where two
dogs can find adventure and excitement. And beyond those distant
hills, who knows what wonderful experiences? And it's all ours
for the taking, Pige. It's all ours." -

An elegant cocker spaniel, Lady, finds her pampered life upended

from the dangers of the city. Their blossoming romance is

Dad's Preview:
Disney created the world's first canine rom-com and it
is a thing of romantic beauty. Utilizing techniques
employed in the creation of
Bambi
(1942), Disney animators studied hours of footage of
dogs, painstakingly striving for pups that looked
realistic. Their efforts paid off. Though the film
focuses on the love story between the Tramp and his
Lady, there are a host of supporting characters that add
to the richness: a Scottie named Jock; the elderly
bloodhound Trusty; a feisty beaver with a lisp; and
those dang Siamese twin cats (my sister brought home a
Siamese, and the devious feline scratched me several
times when I was a baby). This film is a lovely,
animated, nostalgic classic for the whole family. |
