				"The average life of a
man in my profession is approximately eight years. Now, I've
been at it for fifteen, so you see, I've been living on borrowed
time... Sooner or later, an animal, or an unfriendly native, or
a tropical disease will get me." - Allan Quatermain
				Why watch this? A
very good film adaptation of the 1885 novel of the same name.
				Plot Summary:
In Kenya Africa circa 1897, Elizabeth Curtis hires weary and
jaded safari guide, Alan Quatermain, to lead her and her
brother, John, on a search to find her missing husband. Her
husband's quest was the legendary King Solomon's diamond mines
and she has a copy of the map. Quatermain is very reluctant to
take on the dangerous journey which leads to parts of Africa
nobody has yet explored. However, he is being well paid. Dad's Preview:
This adventure film, with a dash of romance, exposes its viewers
to all forms of African peril: charging bull elephants, snakes,
river crocs, and spear-wielding natives. As a kid, I loved all
films about the many demographics of deepest Africa. It truly
thrilled my soul. I can certainly see in this flick the genesis
of future heroic, adventure films such as
				Raiders of
				the Lost Ark (1981) and
				Romancing
				the Stone (1984).
