"Bottom line is,
marriage is hard. It's really f-in' hard. Just... just two
people slogging through the shit,
year after year, getting
older, changing. It's a f-ing marathon, okay?" -
Jules
Why watch this?
Bening and Moore deliver two powerful
performances.
Plot Summary:
A lesbian couple, Nic and Jules, have their lives disrupted when
their teenage children, Joni and Laser, decide to seek out their
biological father, a charismatic free spirit named Paul. The
children's search brings Paul into the family's orbit, leading
to unexpected dynamics and shifts in the household.
Dad's Preview: A
married lesbian couple each had one child using the same sperm
donor, Paul. Sounds like a great film premise. The pure joy of this film is that
it doesn't build to an action-filled climax. It slowly, carefully ambles
along, taking the necessary time needed to get to where it's
going. Life, however difficult, is about the journey.
