"Nothing in Jurassic
World is natural, we have always filled gaps in the genome with
the DNA of other animals. And if the genetic code was pure, many
of them would look quite different. But you didn't ask for
reality, you asked for more teeth." –
Henry Wu
Why watch this?
Filmmakers take the franchise in a new, bolder direction.
Plot Summary:
Twenty-two years after the original park failed, a fully
operational dinosaur theme park on Isla Nublar creates a
genetically-modified hybrid, the Indominus Rex, to boost
attendance. When the intelligent, highly dangerous creature
escapes containment, it triggers chaos, forcing the park's
operations manager and a velociraptor trainer to protect
visitors from the rampaging threat.

Dad's Preview:
Where would this film franchise be if it weren't for
smart people making bad decisions. Yet, as was
postulated in the original
Jurassic Park
(1993), it's somehow still a good idea to
create a theme park with real dinosaurs and new
genetically-altered species, then pack said park with
tons of eager tourists. No red flags? Anyone? This film
does a pretty good job entertaining with non-stop chaos,
while paying respect to the previous JP films. It felt
fresh. The cast does a serviceable job, with Pratt
proving a capable leading men. Bryce D. Howard's strong
female lead was meh (there was much ado about her
running in heels). All said, it's enjoyable popcorn fun
with screams, explosions and mayhem galore, but check
your believability at the door. |
