Plot Summary:
Jackie Brown, a middle-aged flight attendant, is caught
smuggling money and cocaine for an arms dealer and faces a
choice between jail time or assisting the federal agents in
catching her boss. To avoid either scenario, she plots a
complex, high-stakes game to trick both the authorities and the
criminals, aiming to steal the large sum of cash for herself.
With the help of a quiet bail bondsman, she attempts to
orchestrate a double-cross that will allow her to escape.

Dad's Preview:
If you don't like listening to Samuel L. Jackson rant and rave,
then this might not be for you. Luckily, through the years, he
has grown on me. This film essentially is about a woman who has
been unlucky all her life, a situation faced by many black
women. She got busted, tried to go straight, but knows the
system will never let her succeed, much less break even. Pam
Grier really shines in this film as she navigates nefarious
characters and crooked cops... all to take one last desperate
swing for the homerun... and a way out. Jackson, De Niro,
Forster and Keaton are all great in supporting roles. Even
Bridget Fonda turns in a nice performance as a stoner beach bum. |
