Plot Summary: Dr. Robert Neville, a virologist, struggles to survive in a post-apocalyptic New York City, believing himself to be the only human left. A mutated virus, initially developed to cure cancer, decimated the population, turning survivors into vampire-like Darkseekers. Neville, immune to the virus, spends his time finding resources and seeking a cure while avoiding those that hunt him.

Dad's Preview: As with earlier film versions of Richard Matheson's 1954 book by the same title, the story of the last man on Earth makes an entertaining watch. This time Will Smith plays our hero in New York City in 2009. He and his dog, Samantha roam the deserted streets by day looking for food, and experimenting on rats to find a cure. There are some genuinely scary moments and it is a thrilling film, even if it goes off the rails a bit in the final hour. In fact, some fans prefer the DVD's alternate ending.
