Dad's Preview:
As Universal monster films began to lose box-office
appeal, the studio desperately gambled on a film that
would bring together several creatures and creations,
that's right, in ONE FILM. It is more-of-the-same.
That's fine for some folks, but boring for others. I
just expected it to live up to the hype. Instead, it
merely satisfies. I honestly wonder how good this
could have been had they spent extra time on the
script, enticing Karloff and Lugosi to portray the
monsters they made famous, and better special effects.
Regardless, what we got is watchable and was
enough to excite the imagination of a ten-year-old
little monster fan. |
