				Why watch this?
Folks scrapping by on the edge of poor always pay a heavy
				price in human damage.
				Plot Summary:
A Yale Law student is forced to return to his Ohio hometown
after a family crisis involving his mother's addiction. The film
explores three generations of his Appalachian family,
highlighting their struggles with poverty, addiction, and their
				unique cultural identity. Dad's Preview:
				Where The Trip to Bountiful
				(1985)
captured my mother's sweet side, this film encapsulates her
toughness. Glenn Close (what an actress!) portrays a feisty,
hard-edged grandmother fighting to keep her family in line while
mired in generational poverty. This lady does not mince
words. After a hard life, she now has to deal with her broken, drug-addicted daughter, and her
				fatherless
teen grandson, who is still trying to figure out if he can break
away from the world into which he was born. Yes, I realize this
is the quasi-biography of politician J. D. Vance, and I must be
clear: I do not agree with the opinions, ramblings and
				political affiliations of Mr. Vance.
