"Until this territory
becomes a state with a governor and a state court of appeals, I
am the law here - all the law. If you don't like that, you can
cuss me till hell freezes over..." - Judge Adam Fenton
Why watch this?
Eastwood, and that steely glare he gives, is worth the price of
admission.
Plot Summary:
When a retired lawman is wrongfully accused of a crime and
subjected to a near-fatal lynching, he is saved and given a
unique opportunity. He returns as a federal marshal, tasked with
bringing the men responsible for his assault to justice, but
with the strict condition that he not pursue personal revenge.
This leads him on a challenging journey where he navigates the
complex line between upholding the law and facing his own desire
for vengeance.
Dad's Preview:
This film answers the question, "What would happen if a man
survived his own hanging?" The answer is the plot of this film,
and it involves a quest for revenge, a lot of lead, and bodies
hitting the ground. Man, I can feel the testosterone pulsing in
my neck! This is pretty standard Western fare and Eastwood looks
at home, squaring off against a stubborn "hangin' judge",
portrayed wonderfully by seasoned character actor Pat Hingle
(one of my Bro's favorite actors).
