Why watch this? Is
there a future for humans and zombies to co-exist?
Plot Summary:
Set in a dystopian world ravaged by a parasitic fungal
infection, humanity's last hope rests on a group of uniquely
evolved children who retain their cognitive abilities despite
being affected by the pathogen. When their heavily fortified
army base is overrun, a small band of survivors must flee across
a dangerous wasteland accompanied by one exceptional young girl
who displays remarkable intelligence.

Dad's Preview:
In a often flooded zombie film market, this film has
enough originality to stand out. Mike Carey wrote the
original book and script for the flick, so it's close to
the source material. There a fungal infection turning
people into bloodthirsty zombies, called "hungries".
Humanity's last hope is to conduct research on a set of
children who are carriers, but otherwise normal. It's
pretty good science fiction as the plot focuses on
Melanie and the future of humans in a world unlike the
one before the fungal invasion. Glenn Close gives a fine
performance as Dr. Caroline Caldwell, but youngster
Sennia Nanua, as the hybrid-zombie Melani, shines in
every scene. |
