Why watch this?
This very good thriller has wonderful a Parisian flare to it.
Plot Summary:
While visiting Paris for a medical convention, an American heart
surgeon faces every traveler's nightmare when his wife
mysteriously vanishes from their hotel room. With local
authorities and embassy officials offering little meaningful
assistance, he is forced to launch his own desperate
investigation through the unfamiliar streets of the city. Along
the way, an accidental luggage mix-up ties his frantic search to
a resourceful young local woman.

Dad's Preview:
This tight, tense crime thriller, from director Roman
Polanski, takes the audience to Paris. Then, after a
kidnapping, it ventures into the European crime
underground that rivals anything in the U.S. It stars
Harrison Ford, and I agree with the decision to make his
character realistically unskilled. Yes, he's a doctor,
and that helps, yet he's not a law enforcement officer.
He really doesn't know what he's doing and struggles
mightily. His actions are born out of desperation to
save his wife. Opposite Ford is the lovely Emmanuelle
Seigner, and her performance is impressive. |
