"It's the name. That
glorious name, McDonald's. It could be, anything you want it to
be... it's limitless, it's wide open... it sounds, uh... it
sounds like... it sounds like America." – Ray Kroc
Why watch this? The
cost of making it rich.
Plot Summary:
This chronicles the journey of Ray Kroc, a struggling milkshake
machine salesman from Illinois, who discovers a highly efficient
fast-food restaurant run by brothers Mac and Dick McDonald in
Southern California. Recognizing the massive potential for a
national chain, Kroc convinces the skeptical brothers to let him
franchise their concept across the country. He eventually
secures control of the company through ambitious, often
ruthless, business maneuvers.

Dad's Preview:
In one simple film, about one simple man, the film makers have
shown us the unbias definition of capitalism. For
hard-driving entrepreneurs, it's pay day. For the common people,
like the fast foot restaurant's two co-founding brothers, the
bus will run over you, then back up to do it again. But the new
American loves ruthlessness, right? Cruelty is the point, right?
This smart, engaging film should have garnered an Oscar for
Michael Keaton's portrayal of one of America's most influential
businessmen. A man, who, was a massive success AND chose to be a
dick when he didn't have to be. This film made it easy to
boycott McDonald's. |
