that their dad spent the last few minutes packing his briefcase!
You're gonna sit them down. Both of them. And you're going to

You're doing that. You. Not me. I'm done." - Janet

Why watch this?
At one time, Neil Armstrong represented the best in us.
Plot Summary: The
story follows Neil Armstrong's grueling decade-long journey
leading up to the historic Apollo 11 mission to the moon in
1969. The film deeply explores the intense personal sacrifices,
overwhelming grief, and deadly risks faced by Armstrong and his
family during NASA's high-stakes space race. Ultimately, it
portrays a visceral, intimate look at the emotional and physical
toll required to achieve one of the greatest triumphs in human
history.

Dad's Preview:
Space. The ultimate unknown. Not fit for human survival.
We're enamored with space travel, whether it's our
natural curiosity or to beat the Russians. Where
The
Right Stuff (1983) made us excited for an entire
space program, this film spends more time on the perils
and sacrifices of those involved to be the first to land
on the moon. Ryan Gosling portrays Neil Armstrong as a
calm, stoic, who keeps his emotions to himself, thus
walling off those that love him. This is good for the
mission, and devastating for his wife and two young
sons. He's unable to grieve for their first child, a
daughter, who died young. It's only after the mission is
over, that he can re-join his life. Claire Foy is
excellent portraying his wife, Janet. This is a deep,
emotional slow burn that still gives me immense pride in
our space program. |
