"Bill, I don't think
you realize how much trouble you got yourself into last night
just by going over there. Who do you think those people were?
Those were not just some ordinary people." – Victor
Ziegler
Why watch this? It's
an erotic journey, wrought with excitement and real danger.
Plot Summary:

after his wife admits to having past unfaithful thoughts.

Dad's Preview:
Films that hint at secret societies, and the private
whims of the rich, have always frightened me. I am sure
there is a bit of truth to the tales. This story, as
seen through a young doctor's eyes, descends into the
elite underworld of sexual depravity. The sect's
architects can spot an intruder from a mile way, then
trap the victim in their web. This film, one of Stanley
Kubrick's best, creates titillation (that draws us in)
and emotional dread (something bad is coming), akin to
the best of film's erotic thrillers. We ask, "What makes
a man, with a beautiful spouse (played by his real-life
wife at the time, Nichole Kidman), seek new, dangerous
erotic adventures?" The answer is the theme of the film:
Like Eve's apple, we have to sample the object of
our temptation... regardless of the consequences. |
