"If you're lucky, you get a
chance to set it right, but most of the time it goes unpunished.
This ain't one of them times. The mistake you made was you
killed my friend. So, I'm gonna kill each and every one of you,
and the only disappointment in it for me is that I only get to
do it once." -
Robert McCall
Why watch this?
He's the vigilante we all wish existed... to right today's
injustices.
Plot Summary:
Robert McCall, a retired CIA black-ops operative working as a
Lyft driver, continues to dispense righteous justice for the
exploited while living a quiet life in Boston. When his close
friend and former handler is murdered during a investigation,
McCall sets out on a relentless, personal mission for vengeance.
Utilizing his elite skills, he tracks down the highly trained
killers responsible.

Dad's Preview:
Why is this action franchise so successful? The fight
scenes and car chases are standard fare. The villains
seem a little been-there-done-that. The answer is simply
Denzel Washington. His calm, surgical demeanor gives
Robert McCall an honesty; when he speaks you listen.
Here we experience his humanity with both his CIA
contacts and the young boy in his neighborhood. He is a
likable man, even when he's meting out justice to
society's bad guys, be they coke-snorting techno-bros,
inner city gang-bangers or a co-worker who betrayed him.
I'm not sure why the filmmakers placed such emphasis on
setting the film's climax during a hurricane, but I'm
sure it symbolic for some reason. |
