things in my life, Nicolai... Things I'm not proud of. I
promised someone I love very much that I would never go back to

Why watch this?
I'll take Denzel over Charles, Liam and Keanu any day.
Plot Summary:
This story's hero is a retired black ops operative living a
quiet, orderly life in Boston who works at a hardware store
while trying to leave his violent past behind. His desire for
justice is reawakened when he comes out of self-imposed
retirement to protect a young girl, Teri, who has been brutally
exploited by the Russian mafia..

Dad's Preview:
Robert McCall is a sophisticated, well-connected,
one-man army, but he's sorta retired. He works at a
hardware store and frequents the late night coffee
shops, performing acts of random vigilantism. We've seen
these movies before:
Death
Wish (1974),
Taken
(2008), and
John
Wick (2014), yet Mr. Washington gives his anti-hero
role a little more gravitas. He's cooler, more
purposeful, like a surgeon extracting a kidney. He will
sit down and talk to you, trying to avoid
confrontation... until he's done talking. Kudos to
Denzel, along with Chloë Grace Moretz as a young teen in
grave danger. It all works in this gritty action
thriller. |
