Why watch this?
Corporate hubris was never greater and more damaging.
Plot Summary:
This documentary explores the rise and subsequent collapse of
the Enron Corporation, once a dominant American energy company.
It investigates the corrupt practices of top executives who
engaged in financial manipulation and obscured the company's
true financial state, ultimately leading to bankruptcy. It
reveals how their actions resulted in massive losses for
investors and employees, while the executives themselves
profited enormously.
Dad's Preview:
In 1987, Enron was rolling... only they really weren't.
This film documents all the scandal and down-right criminal
thievery that the company pulled in order to cover up the fact
that they were losing money and should have gone bankrupt. The
worst crime: the executives lied to their investors, assuring
that all
was great - and to go all-in on Enron - while they themselves
were dumping their stock. This documentary was Oscar-worthy.
IMHO, Enron's executives should be thrown into a pit full of
rabid wolves. These condescending, spoiled, scum-of-the-earth
assholes ruined the lives of employees who trusted them.
