Paul
Why watch this? This
generation's Dune cinematic series starts off well.
Plot Summary: Paul
Atreides, the brilliant heir to a noble house, travels to the
dangerous desert planet Arrakis, the sole source of the
universe's most valuable resource, to oversee its spice mining.
Upon arrival, a brutal betrayal forces Paul and his mother to
flee into the treacherous desert, escaping a plot designed to
eradicate his family. As they survive in the inhospitable
landscape, Paul aligns with the native Fremen people.

Dad's Preview:
It is key for the first film in a series to serve three
purposes. First world-building: using incredible CGI effects,
and loyalty to the Frank Herbert source material, we are blown
away by this sci-fi adventure's award-winning production,
cinematography, sound and musical score. Second, introduce the
characters: The actors are top notch and their performances
stellar. It is Tim Chalamet and Rebecca Ferguson, as mother and son, who
captivate. Finally, create a call to action: The 1984
Dune effort had to gloss
over the story. This new film adaptation thankfully takes its time. Motivations
are clear, characters developed and the ending leaves us wanting
more of the world that is the desert planet, Dune. |
