"Ghidorah is a space
monster. The monsters from Earth cannot win. I will get in touch
with you... when you feel like giving up." -
Kilaak Queen to people of
Earth
Why watch this? This
is a really fun battle royale at the foot of Mount Fiji.
Plot Summary:
In a futuristic world where Earth's giant monsters are contained
on a remote island, alien invaders, called Kilaaks, take control
of Godzill, Rodan, and company, forcing them to attack major cities around the
globe. A team of astronauts must uncover the aliens' scheme and
find a way to free the monsters from their control. The fate of
Earth hangs in the balance as humanity races to turn the tide
against both the invaders and the rampaging monsters.

Dad's Preview:
in 1967,
Toho Films thought they were going to go broke and shut down. They
decided on one last effort that (finally) would bring all their kaiju monsters together. The plot is very similar to
Monster
Zero (1965): Aliens, intent on
taking over Earth, use mind-control to force gigantic kaiju (King Ghidorah and Earth's monsters)
to wreak havoc.
Having all the Toho beasts in
one film IS the
film's strength. The destruction of several global cities and the final brawl
are classic moments. By the way,
Toho Films survived those lean
days and still make monster
movies to this day. |
