Plot Summary:
In 2015, professional climber Tommy Caldwell, looking to
overcome personal heartbreak and traumatic life events, attempts
to achieve the impossible by free climbing the sheer 3,000-foot
Dawn Wall of El Capitan in Yosemite National Park. Along with
climbing partner Kevin Jorgeson, he spends nineteen days living
on the sheer granite face, facing intense physical and mental
challenges, including a particularly grueling section that tests
their friendship and resolve.
Dad's Preview:
This is the story of Tommy Caldwell, one of the best rock
climbers alive. It takes us through his very interesting life,
and all that leads to Yosemite's sheer rock "dawn wall". The
segment where Tommy and several other climbers were taken
hostage by rebels in
Kyrgyzstan is an incredible event. They actually escaped
captivity and fled to find help - it was a life-changing
experience. Tommy teams up with Kevin Jorgeson to develop a plan
to conquer El Capitan. The mental and physical ordeal, spanning
six years, is beyond commendable. And then you see them climbing
the impossible wall. Good Lord. It scares me to death.
