is a very creative envisioning of how first contact might occur.
Plot Summary: Dr.
Ellie Arroway, a passionate SETI scientist, searches for
extraterrestrial intelligence by listening to radio signals from
space. After years of searching, she discovers a powerful signal
from the star Vega that contains instructions for building a
mysterious machine. Despite facing skepticism and political
obstacles, Ellie is chosen to potentially make humanity's first
contact with alien life.

Dad's Preview: This film
attempts to address humanity's many "are we alone
in the universe?" questions, without
overly exposing the film creator's motives. Foster, once again,
gives a master class on vulnerable strength. It really takes its
time to make the contact we hope occurs, from the first
blip heard on a space microphone to the construction of
a massive inter-dimensional device. Viewers who spend a
little time with this film will have
their thoughts provoked
and their minds blown. |
