Why watch this? It's
one of Goldie's best early films.
Plot Summary: A
bachelor dentist, Dr. Winston, tells his young girlfriend Toni
that he is married with children to avoid any real commitments.
When he finally decides to marry her, she insists on meeting his
nonexistent wife first. He then persuades his loyal dental nurse
to pose as his fictitious spouse, setting off a chain of chaotic
romantic plots.

Dad's Preview:
In true 1960's vibe, this romantic screwball comedy is
trippy, man. This dentist dude, he's real heavy, but he
brings down some serious cash, so he's dating this crazy
chick who's willing to take her own life because he
won't leave is wife. But, get this, he ain't even
married! All this romantic nonsense aside, this movie is
really about a stern, middle-aged woman who has
given up on love. Ingrid Bergman plays this thorny lady
to perfection, as she rediscovers her sense of self.
Goldie Hawn, as the other woman, steals the film,
and she was awarded an Oscar for Best Supporting
Actress. It's a groovy trip back in time and a romance
worth checking out. |
