Why watch this?
You think you have a handle on people living in America? Then
you need to see this.
Plot Summary: This
documentary film is about the trial of Delbert Ward, a
semi-literate farmer accused of killing his brother Bill in a
small, isolated community in upstate New York. The film explores
the dynamics of this rural community as they rally around
Delbert, raising questions about police procedures and media
portrayal of "outsiders". It delves into the potential motives
behind the death, exploring the possibilities of a mercy killing
or a more disturbing scenario, while raising questions about
innocence, community support, and the limitations of the justice
system for vulnerable individuals.
Dad's Preview:
Some stories subtly scream to be told. This is one such story.
The Ward brothers, isolated, primitive, New York state farmers,
have simply been living and tending their land for as long as
they can remember. One brother, William, dies, and the
sophisticated NY police get involved. Then the media gets
involved. This drags these poor men, particularly Delbert, into
over-stimulation hell. This film is not such about what
occurred regarding the death, as much as how "the system" mauled
these introverted loners, all for the News at Eleven.
This documentary is riveting, thought-provoking and
heart-rendering.
