				"Remember what the
general said; we're the cavalry. It would be bad form to arrive
in advance of schedule. In the nick of time would do nicely." -
				Lt. Col. J.O.E. Vandeleur
				Why watch this? A
great WWII epic centered on the failed Operation Market Garden.
				Plot Summary:
This grand, visual spectacle centers on the Allied Forces'
attempt to drive the German army out of the Netherlands during
World War II. The plan was to parachute-drop 35,000 men behind
enemy lines to secure a series of strategic bridges. A British
division is tasked with taking and defending the bridge at
Arnhem. This will prevent German forces from escaping the
invasion. British commanders, however, ignore warnings from
their own air photos and reports from the Dutch underground. The
well-armed Nazis are waiting. Dad's Preview:  This star-filled film, in many
ways, resembles the historic battle it portrays. It's big and
massive in scope, however it is perhaps a little too
over-confident. There are many of filmdom's greatest actors
present, and the attention to military detail is well-noted. It
is a pleasure to see all the stars - I loved the
performances by Sean Connery, James Caan and Anthony Hopkins. We
have to remember that this military mission did not accomplish
its goal, however the film did succeed in recreating how and why
it happened, and that has value all its own.
